ROBINS – Apples and Alligator Pie

alt

“A” is for apple. . .

alt
….three different colors.

We charted our favorite apple variety.
What was the favorite apple color?   All three colors!
As we did our charting, we practiced sorting and counting skills.

ALLIGATOR, ALLIGATOR, ALLIGATOR PIE

Alligator, Alligator, Alligator Pie
If I don’t get some I think I’m going to cry.
You can take away the green grass,
You can take away the sky,
But don’t take away my Alligator Pie.
alt
Alligator Pie (akin to Shepherd’s Pie) was on the “A” menu.

The first step was browning the ground chicken (everyone knows that alligator                                 tastes a lot like chicken)
alt
The recipe called for chopped onions.  However, we substituted “snipped” onions and got good scissor practice while doing it.
We added green beans to the meat and onion mixture.
And finished it with a topping of instant mashed potatoes. We baked the Alligator Pie in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

You’ll be happy to know that no one cried (as the poem says) because we all got some Alligator Pie.

Next week’s menu . . . “B”
