CHICKADEES – October

The end of October was a whirlwind of pumpkins, a field trip to the pumpkin patch, and Halloween.  Here are some of the highlights from the last two weeks of October.

Pumpkin Art
We made pumpkin faces using triangles, circles, and squares and continued practicing recognizing these basic shapes and parts of the face.

Decorating pumpkins with markers and practicing holding the markers correctly.

Pumpkin Math
We sang “5 Little Pumpkins” lots of times and practiced counting to 5 with pom-pom pumpkins.

               5 Little Pumpkins
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The first one said “Oh, my its getting late.”
The second one said, “There are witches in the air.”
The third one said, “But we don’t care.”
The fourth one said, “Lets run and run and run.”
The fifth one said, “Its Halloween fun!”
Ooooooh went the wind and out went the light.
And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip–
We saw lots of cool farm animals, climbed up the big hay pile, enjoyed a tractor ride, and had a good time picking out a pumpkin that was just right.  A big thank you to all the parents who came along on our trip to the pumpkin patch.
Checking out the animals.

Hmmm, now what is the best way down?

Riding out to the pumpkin patch
So many pumpkins.

Found one, just the right size.

Halloween Parades:

What a couple of fun days we had, as the kids shared their costumes and dressed up for school.  We also enjoyed some yummy orange snacks.  Thanks again parents for all your contributions.
