Strategies to Help Parents and Day Care Teams Work Together

parent-teacher-meetingKidspace Child Enrichment Center is so much more than just a child care center. We actively work toward promoting the growth and success of children and their families. One of the most effective ways to ensure that the services we provide are working for each family is to engage in strong, ongoing communication with parents and caretakers.

With this in mind, we feel that it is our responsibility to communicate our process for increasing family/ staff engagement with you, in the hope that you will let us know how we’re doing. Our goal is always to improve our offerings, and we appreciate the valuable feedback we receive from parents and caretakers on a daily basis.

The following are a few ways that we attempt to engage with you, the family, for the benefit of your child’s education:

  • Send notes home: Most of the parents we partner with are thrilled to receive information about their child’s time at our program. We attempt to reach out on a regular basis to share with parents what their children have been learning.
  • Find time to talk with parents: When we need to speak with a parent, we always try to find a time during which both the individual and the instructor can be present and focused. For small matters that require only a few minutes, the time when a parent comes in to pick up a child can work well. If not, we are always happy to schedule a phone call or meeting time.
  • Handbooks: These resources can be extremely useful for streamlining communications between caretakers and daycare staff. They may include the center’s mission statement and philosophy, as well as policies, days and times of operation, procedures for documenting absences, as well as contact information, enrollment and payment details, and parents’ responsibilities. At Kidspace Child Enrichment Center, we always make sure to schedule an orientation with parents, so we can go over our policies together in person and make sure everyone is on the same page.
  • Internal meetings: In order to facilitate exceptional communication with the families we are privileged to know, we hold regular staff meetings to discuss our agenda, resolve any problems that may have come up, and brainstorm new ideas to increase the quality of communication between our team and you. It is always our goal to work better and smarter in order to better serve you and your children.

Not all day care teams are created alike, but the most supportive ones work hard to communicate with parents on a regular basis, and in as many different ways as possible. At Kidspace Child Enrichment Center, we always want to hear your feedback so we can improve our policies and make your child’s experience the very best it can be. Have comments? Call us!
