ROBINS – April 22 – 26

Hello again!

The letter of the week was “U” for umbrella. We made Umbrella art…

Did a counting activity with umbrella cookies…

Practiced forming the letter “U” with various manipulatives…

We wrapped up our study of the solar system and drew space related things for our April drawings. The drawings varied from planets to rocket ships to aliens.

4 Square, More Square…a returning favorite from the beginning of the year…

We practiced writing the letters we’ve learned on the magnetic tablets…

We introduced a new puzzle and it turned out to be a lot more difficult than it looked. Many of the Robins worked together to try and put it together…

Emergent curriculum is so important in the preschool classroom. We strive to take our cues from the kiddos and their curiosity and enthusiasm often direct the Robins class. Lately we have been crazy about finding ants, so this week we attempted to create an ant farm. The Robins really enjoyed looking at the ants through magnifying glasses and some students even decided to document their observations through drawings.

To go along with our study of ants, we filled the sensory tub with sand, plants, and lots of insects….

We also worked on ant themed arts & crafts, like finger painted anthills and ants made of egg cartons…
