ROBINS – D is for Dog Biscuits

This week was all about the letter D.  We learned the sign for D and dog.  So, what better way to celebrate our learning than make people friendly DOG BISCUITS.  They’re actually apple cinnamon drops.

                                                                        Recipe:

1 1/2 cups of apple sauce
                                                                  1/4 cup honey
                                                                  1/2 cup of water
                                                                  1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
                                                                  1 cup of oatmeal
1 1/2 cps whole wheat four

First we combined the apple sauce, honey, water, cinnamon and oatmeal in a large bowl.  Then we gradually blended in the wheat flour.  We made sure we added enough to form a stiff dough.

The children learned that flour helps take away some of it’s stickiness when flattening it.  Then using dog biscuit cookie cutters the kiddos made their own biscuits.

We baked them in a 350 degree oven for 20-30 minutes. We let them cool and then we devoured our doggie biscuits.

Here’s how to adapt the recipe for your furry friends:   cook the biscuits for 30 minutes, remove and flip each cookie and bake for another 30 minutes.  Reduce the oven to 325 degrees, return to oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes.  Let cool overnight. Your dog will thank you!
