ROBINS – March 4th – 8th

Hello! This week in the Robins class (as usual) was full of playful learning. Take a look!

The letter of the week was “O” for octopus…

We spent our week learning about sea life. We tried to bring in as many real examples as we could, like coral, shells, sand dollars, starfish, etc.

We were able to examine real sharks teeth…

Water play…

Sand trays for sensory play and fine motor…

Beach themed pretend play. The Robins building sand castles in their imaginations was quite the sight to see. Pre-school aged children are SO amazing!

This was a favorite book this week. We read the story in both English & Spanish.

In this math activity, the Robins each guessed how many shells they thought were in the jar. We recorded our estimates and then counted them as a group. There were 105…that’s a lot of counting!

The Robins painted beautiful ocean scenes using watercolors and permanent markers. Octopuses, fish, and sharks…oh my!

Out big project this week was creating a giant octopus for our bulletin board. We started by painting circles which would become the suckers on the octopus’ tentacles…

Later in the week, we finger painted an ocean, as well as the different parts of the octopus’ body. It was messy and so much fun!

All the Robins had a chance to contribute to the art project and we think it turned out to be a wonderful collaborative project. Be sure to take a look at our sea creature on display in the middle room!

Until next week,
Miss Crystal & Miss Julie
